Wayawu Estate is a family owned boutique winery on a picturesque property owned by Stephanie and John Henry. Stephanie manages the vineyard while John manages the winery. Family and friends help with the pruning, the picking and with the bottling.
Wayawu is a Northeast Arnhem Land word for places where the Milky Way touches the earth. This name was bestowed on our property by the Manggalili artist Nami Maymuru-White in 1984.
Nami gave permission for us to use this name for our Estate in 2006. One of Nami’s paintings of the Milky Way was reproduced on the labels of our early vintages.
Pronunciation? Wayawu is pronounced as Wayawoo (similar to the ending in ‘Woolloomooloo’).

Winter Shiraz Weekend on again at Wayawu Estate
The Wayawu Estate Cellar Door was launched in 2015 over the Geelong Wine’s Winter Shiraz Weekend. Following the interest shown in our Shiraz vintages on that weekend and since, we have joined with Geelong Wine again in this celebration of the region’s wines.
Shiraz lovers set aside the date July 2nd & 3rd and visit Wayawu Estate between 11am and 5pm on the Saturday or Sunday.
On arrival enjoy a Bellarine Shiraz experience in a convivial, no rush environment with tastings from Wayawu Estate’s 2012-2014 vintages. A walk through the boutique winery is a must with the opportunity to taste the 2015 vintage from the French oak barrels.
It may be wintery outside, but you can enjoy your tastings (even a glass or a bottle of your favourite vintage) by a blazing log fire inside the cellar door while chatting to the winemaker.
Ponda Estate, another award winning boutique Bellarine winery, has joined the Winter Shiraz Weekend party at Wayawu.
We are proud to announce the release Harry’s Shiraz 2014.
This is a rich complex shiraz in the Wayawu Estate tradition. Deep purple in the glass, red and black fruits with French oak aromas. Full palate experience, holding tannins and a delicate spice finish.
Available for tasting and purchase through our Cellar Door.
Another successful Toast to the Coast
The 14th Annual Toast to the Coast was great success at Wayawu Estate. We were host to more than 400 passionate wine lovers over the Saturday & Sunday. People arrived in small groups which allowed for convivial and informative conversations about the wines while tasting.
People enjoyed the range of wines made available by Wayawu Estate and our guest winery for the weekend, Ponda Estate.
We will definitely be on the Bellarine map for the 15th Annual Toast to the Coast in 2016.
